David's
Practice
l About David
David has been practising law since 1975. He
is a graduate of University of Toronto Law School.
He first wrote the textbook "Wrongful
Dismissal" in 1978,
which has since that date been considered the authoritative text on
employment law in Canada. The 2 volume looseleaf textbook is updated
every 6 months to keep subscribers abreast of new developments.
David has also since 1984 been the Editor in Chief of the Canadian
Cases on Employment Law. New decisions are reviewed daily to
determine and report on new decisions. He has spoken at innumerable
conferences on employment law issues in every Canadian province over
the past 25 years and has delivered lectures on employment law
topics at University of Toronto and University of Western Ontario.
David has acted for some of Canada's largest corporations, including
Bank of Montreal, Manulife Financial, and Petrocanada. His practice
is centered on employment law issues, such as wrongful dismissal,
sexual harassment, non-competition covenants, Human Rights
complaints, and related matters such as fiduciary duty issues,
minority shareholder remedies, and administrative hearings.
David represents both employees and employers, although there is a
greater emphasis, by choice, placed upon acting for employees as
plaintiffs.
David has appeared as appellate and trial counsel in many leading
cases, such as Ribeiro vs. Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce,
McCaw
vs. United Church of Canada, Rasanen vs. Rosemount, and
McNamara vs. Alexander Centre
Industries.
