Brad is a graduate of Hill Park Secondary School and Mohawk College's radio broadcasting program. He also received a certificate in non-profit management from McMaster University. An avid reader, he also enjoys photography.

Mrs. Bradshaw has been an active community leader in Moncton. In 1974, she founded the Moncton Headstart Early Family Intervention Centre, where she served as Executive Director from 1974 to 1997. Mrs. Bradshaw served as Girls' Program Director at Moncton's Boys' and Girls' Club from 1968 to 1974. She has been an active member of several organizations, including: the Provincial Housing Task Force, the Moncton Housing Coalition and the Provincial Task Force on Early Childhood. In addition, Mrs. Bradshaw has represented New Brunswick on the National Crime Prevention Council and was the Atlantic representative on the Canadian Welfare Council.

Mrs. Bradshaw has received a number of awards in recognition of her community service work, including the Muriel Fergusson Award presented by the Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce for Business Woman of the Year; the Ann Bell Award from the New Brunswick Child Welfare Association; the Paul Harris Award from the Moncton-West-Riverview Rotary Club; the Family Services Canada's Leadership Award; the Médaille Richelieu du 50e anniversaire, conferred by the Richelieu International for her exceptional commitment to the French language and culture, and an Honorary Doctorate in Social Work from the University of Moncton
